It was dark. So dark, then i heard something. A soft melody. It was getting louder. Instantly, i knew what instrument was being played. Piano. I listened harder.Scales.
Somebody was playing scales on the piano but it was not smooth. Every once in a while, it would stop and the same notes would be played again but louder.
Slowly, I saw a brown piano. The same one my dad has, appearing out of nowhere. The keys were being played but nobody was there.
A girl appeared, she was sitting on the piano bench and playing her scales. I was standing behind her.
I only saw her and the piano. She sitting at the piano, running her scales again and again, sighing every time she played a wrong note.
She had long brown hair that was tied up in a ponytail.
She wore scruffy jeans and a blue t-shirt that hung loosely on her thin frame. She was about 6 years old and the piano bench was too low for her so she had to stand up to play the piano.
My hand ached to touch her but i restrained myself. All of a sudden, the whole picture came out. She was in a dull grey room, that was empty except for the piano and an old wooden chair that was left miserably in a corner, it only had three legs.
I watched her play again and again. I could see shiny drops of sweat falling down her back. She had her back to me. I could not see her face, but even then I felt like i knew her but i just could not remember.
I was trying to remember her when i heard a knock. A man came in, he had messy brown hair and black glasses that sat on his nose.
His eyes sparkled. The little girl stopped playing.
My blood ran cold when he said the first word.
'Dee, it's time to go to the hospital.' He said, his voice soft. The little girl carefully shut the piano and walked out with her dad, leaving me standing there wondering what had happened.
Dee? I went pale. The little girl was me, but how can she be me when i was standing behind her? Then, the room faded and a new room appeared. It was white and spotless. I saw ladies in white uniforms rush about. The hospital.
I looked around. The room had a few beds but only one was filled. I saw a beautiful lady with light brown hair in a bed. She was cuddling what looked like a baby. The man i had just saw, who now i realized was my dad stood awkwardly beside her.
Another man, with jet black hair was kissing the beautiful lady on the cheek. The little girl stood beside her dad looking almost as awkward. They just stood there and watched the beautiful lady with the man and the baby. I turned away.
I did not want to see anymore. The room faded and i only saw darkness again. I heard someone call my name.
DEE. DEE. DEEE!!!!
I opened my eyes. Blinding white light caused me to close my eyes again.
'Dee?' I heard a voice call out. Softer this time. I opened my eyes again. The blinding white light was gone. It was replaced with many concerned faces looking at me. I was lying on a soft bed that i knew was not mine.
The first thing that ran through my mind was not that i was in a hospital bed. Why did i have that flashback?
I tried to get up, only to be restrained. 'No, Dee don't get up.' The voice said. I looked around to see the familiar white walls stare back at me. I was in a hospital. I must have looked stricken because i heard the voice again. 'Dee?'
I turned my head and saw my mother, looking worried sick, there were dark rings around her beautiful almond eyes. My sister stood beside her, looking a little less concern then my mom but still concerned.
I had so many questions to ask them but the first question that came out was : 'Where is Greyson?' I could not have been more humiliated.
'He's outside honey, the whole family is. Everybody was in tears when we heard.' She told me, her tone gentle. She touched my hand.
I realized that there was an long needle stuck in my hand. Before i could freak, a nurse came in. She was smiling cheerfully at me.
Immediately, i knew she was a fake. Behind her, a man in a white coat entered. He wore glasses and had one of those stethoscope thingys around his neck. He held a white clipboard in his right hand.
He spoke in a kind but firm tone. He looked at his clipboard before speaking. 'Delia, are you aware that you have been involved in an accident?' I shook my head.
'Yo-' He started but was cut off by a nurse. 'Doctor Richard, I'm sorry but someone wants to see Ms. Miller.' She said in a thick British accent.
'Ms. Miller is not fit enough to be seen by anybody.' He said firmly. The nurse nodded and said 'Yes, sir.' and hurried away.
He was about to continue when the white door was thrown open loudly. The Doctor looked really annoyed.
I turned my head to look at the person who flung the door open and i met with dark intense brown eyes.
